K2G Night in Silicon Valley joined by portfolio companies, investors and advisors

After the first successful K2G Night event held in Seoul back in June, the highly anticipated K2G Night Silicon Valley was hosted by the K2G Fund team at the Yang and Yamazaki Environment and Energy (Y2E2) Building at Stanford University. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the Fund’s portfolio companies and Limited Partners to connect and share ideas.

To start off, Brian Koo, Founder and Chairman of Maum Group re-emphasized the theme of K2G (“Korea 2 Global”) and introduced Professor Lepech for his Opening Speech.

Professor Michael Lepech, a renowned faculty member at the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University and Director of Stanford Center at the Incheon Global Campus (SCIGC) gave an inspiring opening speech. Professor Lepech also generously provided the venue for the event.

Youngwon Lee, Founder and CEO of DOKKAEBIER, the popular Korean beer brewing company based in Oakland, shared his amazing story about his journey with DOKKAEBIER. DOKKAEBIER also sponsored the event with various flavors of DOKKAEBIER which the guests enjoyed throughout the event.

Next, Archi Kong, Founding Managing Partner of K2G Fund, discussed the latest trends of the tech industry and re-emphasized the opportunities under the K2G thesis which is becoming more important than ever in the global technology venture capital market. 

Tyler Nighswander from Theori was next to present about Theori, Inc, the consecutive winner and defending champion of the DEFCON hacking competition. As the upcoming leader in the cybersecurity space, Theori has an exciting future ahead of them.

Next, Sameer Sait, the Co-Founder and CSO of BalkanID presented the problems faced in access governance and how BalkanID is tackling the problem. BalkanID is leveraging data science to provide a unified and risk-based, role-based access control.

Next, Kiwoon Sung, Co-founder and CEO of Monoly, presented about the opportunities in applying blockchain technology to government and enterprise grade systems using Monoly’s Web 3 platform which is poised to revolutionize B2B SaaS in the Web3 era.

David Son, Co-Founder and CEO of Luckmon was next to present his story with the Web 3.0 gaming platform. Luckmon is a gaming platform designed and built for all gamers who are able to play, earn, and redeem rewards, NFTs and gift cards while enjoying the most popular casual mobile games.

Lastly, Hyoung-chul Choi, Founder and CEO of Portlogics introduced his logistics company and about TOMS, the world’s first incoterms-based trade order management system that is already being used by major logistics and retail companies in Korea.

To wrap up, Brian Koo stepped in to share images of the new Maum Group Silicon Valley coworking space located at 530 Lytton Ave in downtown Palo Alto which is to be made available for K2G Fund portfolio companies and investors alike to continuously connect and work together.

With special thanks to Professor Lepech for his generous offer to use the venue for the event and with beer from DOKKAEBIER, the guests remained throughout the festive Friday night as K2G portfolio company founders mingled with other founders, investors as well as the Fund team. The Fund team plans to host a series of such events in the near future.
